How a School Should Look!

It has been so wonderful to see all our children back at school!  That is how a school should look:  all those happy faces, laughing with their friends, playing in the school grounds and loving being back in the classroom.  I hope your family’s return has been relatively smooth and that, with the gradual easing of restrictions, we can all see the results of our hard work.  Well done!

Smiling Mind Resources

Smiling Mind, the wonderful app you can download for free, has produced a series of resources called Stepping Back into School.  They have lots of ideas for discussion and activities to help your child as they return to school.  The packs are for 5-7 years, 8-10 years and 11-12 years.  Please click on each image to access the appropriate pack.

Emerging Minds

One of our Assistant Principals, Mick Sweeney, brought the Emerging Minds site to my attention last week:

https://emergingminds.com.au/

They have many resources for parents/carers to support their children’s mental health, but the ones he most liked were also available in many different languages, including Amharic, Arabic, Dari, Dinka, Hindi, Karen, Khmer, Oromo, Punjabi, Chinese, Somali, Tamil, Tiginya, Turkish, Urdu and Vietnamese.

Psychology Services Available at Cranbourne Carlisle Primary School

We are very fortunate at Cranbourne Carlisle PS to have the services of Psychologist, Yewande Adelaja once a week onsite.  Yewande (or Wendy) works with children to assist them with a range of issues over a number of sessions.  There is no out of pocket cost for her services, but the child must be on a Mental Health Care Plan to access Medicare rebates.  The Mental Health Care Plan would need to be filled in by your GP.

If you think your child would benefit from the assistance of a psychologist, please contact your child’s classroom teacher, or me (Kerry Bates), to discuss further.
