At Cranbourne Carlisle Primary School we look for projects, programs and competitions that support our students interests and curiosity. We encourage students to try new things and share their passions for learning through extra-curricular activities, challenges and tasks.
Some of the competitions / programs we have competed in are: –
In 2024, 5 of our Year 6 students entered the Formula 1 Grand Prix Hydrobot Rumble Challenge. They worked hard for 4 months learning how to design a Hydrogen fuelled autonomous vehicle and then share their design idea along with all the Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics involved in their work. Our students were selected as 1 or the 3 finalists for Victoria and presented the project to a panel of Judges at the Australian Formula 1 Grand Prix. They were exceptional in their presentation, and they won the competition for the state.

In 2024 a selection of Year 5/6 students were invited to take part in a Soul Sonics music program designed to create tunes and music using the sounds around our school. It was wondering to see students using technology and digital programming to create their own individual sounds. Have a listen to their creations.

In 2024 a selection of Year 3 to 6 students participated in a Chinese Dragon Dance competition. Our students performed very well and received the ‘Best Creativity Award’ for their amazing effort. It is wonderful sharing our language learning in a creative way with other schools. Well done team!
Science Talent Search – Year 1/2 Scientific Picture Story Book project – 7 out of the 8 teams received a Merit Certificate for their entries and 1 team received a DISTINCTION award for their Picture Story book. What a fantastic effort from our Year 1/2 students.
Tournament of the Minds – Year 3/4 STEM challenge – Birds of TOMadise
Maths Olympiad – A selection of Year 1 to 6 students compete in four Maths problem solving and creative thinking challenges per year. Our students attend weekly training sessions were teachers challenge their Mathematical strategies and thinking by supporting them through complex and thought-provoking problems.
We had 3 students within the 2023 team be acknowledged in the top 10% of entries for this competition. Well done to everyone who participates in these challenges.
Robocup – Year 5/6 – competition teams in Riley Rover Rescue and On-Stage Performance using our Lego Spike Prime Robots. – in 2023 our On-Stage Performers were placed 2nd in the competition and were invited to compete at the Victorian State competition.
Our Poly Girls Team went on to win the State Competition and went on to compete in the national competition in at MSAC – Albert Park. We placed 7th overall in the National competition.
Lego Club Lunchtimes – Foundation to Year 6 – have a lego lunch time on Friday in the STEM room.
