2B | Zones of Regulation

6 March 2020

We have been learning about the Zones of Regulation which is a framework for teaching children about self regulation and self control. Each Zone is a different colour and represents different emotions.

Yellow Zone – you might be feeling worried, frustrated, silly, or nervous.

Blue Zone – you might be feeling sad, tired, or sick.

Red Zone – you might be feeling angry, furious and you are out of control.

Green Zone – you might be feeling calm, focussed, happy, content and are, therefore, ready to learn.

We have been focusing on using different strategies to ‘get back’ to the green zone such as taking deep breaths, having a drink of water, reading, daily relaxation, exercise, and talking about a problem.

The children have had lots of fun making signs to remind them about the different Zones.
